Kevin's home is located on a small hill off a dirt road, it provides a 360ยบ view of the surrounding mountains including an unobstructed view to the south of Sandia Peak by Albuquerque. There's also an open space adjacent his property with singletrack access to a nearby trail system: La Tierra. We downed our morning coffee and hit the trails: ride-in/ride-out style.

Sunrise over the Sangre de Cristo Mtns. |
We cruised through the open space trails down to a culvert under Hwy599 and Kevin remarked how surprised he was to see another rider on those trails!! We soon linked into the La Tierra system and the well marked trails cut in and around the Junipers.

There's quite the dirt jump / skillz park here!! |

Here's the other half. |

Kevin, all smiles showing off his local trails. He's also a tattoo artist and hosts regular bikepack outings in the Santa Fe area: Adventure Bikepacking!! |
|
Most of the trails rode fast over hardpack. |
|
This one. Hustle & Flow, a mile of whoops, table tops and banked turns!! |

Trail by number. |

Has a very central Arizona feel to it. |
We wrapped up our short tour with a bit of neighborhood riding and a minor bushwhack back to Kevin's place. I needed get on the road towards Del Norte, CO to meet a buddy. More on that in the next post.
Thanks for the tour and hospitality, Kevin & Katherine, it was a pleasure to hang out for a bit. So much more to check out in the Santa Fe area, I'll be back!!

Not very colorful here, or mountainous, but that would change in the coming days. |
